Anyone with experience filming an actor doing multiple roles?
Main Post:
If anyone could have a chat with me on the logistics of doing this I would be forever thankful.
I'm 1AD on a web series with one actor playing 3 characters, and I could use some guidance on the logistics.
Thank you!
EDIT: So far the idea is that they'll be on camera at the same time.

There's a few more details that will get you more helpful feedback here.
- Are they playing characters who will be interacting with one another, or not?
- Has the director/DOP decided to shoot around having the same actor in frame more than once, or are there planned VFX edits to disguise that?
- Is the actor used to playing multiple roles in their projects, or will this be a new experience for them?
Assuming that they will be playing multiple characters interacting with each other (i.e. Dead Ringers, An American Pickle), your best bet is to shoot sequences broken up into their two costumes - so shoot all of character A's solo shots in that scene, followed by their side of the VFX shots. Then, while they're changing character, get your empty plates. Once they've changed into character B, start by shooting character B's side of the VFX shots, then end the scene by filming character B's solo shots.
Essentially, you want as little time as possible to pass between when you're filming each side of the VFX shots, so that lighting, camera angle, mise en scene, etc. changes are minimal, and the best way to do that is by filming those immediately before and after the costume change
